Swingmory: Golf Swing Log

About Swingmory

Swingmory is a golf swing log for iPhone that gives every swing you record a date on a calendar, for golfers who film their swing and then lose it in the camera roll.

It is made by Rakou Inc., the team behind the Rakou practice app. Swingmory is free, it works without an account, and the swings stay on your phone unless you ask them not to.

What Swingmory does

Files every swing on the day you hit it

Record in the app or import a clip you already filmed, and it lands on a date in a visual calendar rather than in the middle of your camera roll.

The outcome: you can see how often you are actually showing up, and a month of practice reads as one picture instead of forty loose files.

Keeps the detail that makes a clip worth finding

Each swing can carry the club, the camera angle, how it felt, a note, a session title and a favourite mark. Trimming makes a clean copy inside the app, and your original in Photos is left as it was unless you ask the app to tidy it up once the backup holds it.

The outcome: the swing that felt right in April is still findable in September.

Gives you a choice about where the video lives

On device storage is the default: clips, thumbnails and notes stay on your iPhone, with no account and no upload. Cloud backup is a paid plan that copies your clips to storage we run, so a lost or replaced phone does not take the journal with it.

The outcome: you decide whether convenience or privacy wins, instead of us deciding for you.

What makes Swingmory different

On device is the default, not the upsell

Most swing video apps require an account and upload your clips before you can do anything with them. Swingmory opens and works with neither. Nothing leaves the phone until you pick the cloud plan.

That is stated in the privacy policy rather than implied, including the fact that we cannot see on device journals at all.

A log, not a coaching product

There is no score, no grade and nobody telling you what your swing should look like. Swingmory records what you did and when, and leaves the reading of it to you or your coach.

Apps that analyse your swing have to send the video somewhere and be right about it. This one only has to remember.

No audio, ever

The app requests no microphone permission, so nothing said around a recording is captured. The camera turns on after you tap Record, never at launch.

It matters more than it sounds: swing video gets filmed in lessons, in shops and around other people.

Your video is never sent to analytics

We collect anonymous product events like whether a clip was saved or deleted. Video, thumbnails, note text, file names and precise location are never sent. Session replay and screen capture are off.

The full list of what is and is not collected is published, event by event, in the privacy policy.

Priced as storage, billed by Apple

Pro is $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year. Cloud costs more, $12.99 per month or $99.99 per year, because holding your video on servers has a running cost we are not hiding.

No contract, no minimum term and no sales call. Apple takes the payment, we never see a card number, and you cancel in your Apple ID settings.

Who uses Swingmory

  • Golfers who already film their swing on a phone and have lost track of which clip is which.
  • Range regulars keeping a week by week record of what they worked on.
  • Golfers taking lessons who want the clips their coach asked for, dated and labelled by club.
  • Practising golfers comparing a swing from this month against one from last season.
  • Anyone who wants swing video kept off the cloud and out of a shared photo library.
  • Rakou players keeping a record of the swings they hit at home.

The team behind Swingmory

Swingmory is built and published by Rakou Inc., an early stage, fully remote Delaware C-Corp making golf apps for the days between tee times. Its first app, Rakou, turns ten minutes and a phone camera into golf practice.

Swingmory came out of the same frustration from the other end. Golfers were already filming their swings and the footage was going nowhere: unnamed clips between holiday photos, impossible to compare, quietly deleted when the phone ran out of space. A swing deserves a date.

The team is small, and the people who write the app are the people who answer your email. More about Rakou Inc. or follow Swingmory on Instagram.

How Swingmory works

Getting started

Download free from the App Store and answer three onboarding questions about your goal and how often you practise. There is no account to create. You can record a first swing straight away, or import one from Photos.

Permissions

Camera access is requested only when you first tap Record, and never if you only import clips. If you decline it, the app still works through the Photos picker. You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings.

Who you deal with

The same small team that builds the app. Write to hello@rakou.app about anything, including privacy requests, plan changes and bugs. There is no ticket queue between you and the people who can fix it.

Changing or cancelling a plan

You can see which plan you are on, and change it, inside the app. Cancellation and refunds go through Apple, and deleting the app or your journal does not cancel a subscription on its own.

Frequently asked questions

What is Swingmory?

Swingmory is a golf swing log for iPhone. You record or import a swing, add the club, angle and a note, and it is filed on the day you hit it, building a calendar of your practice over time.

Is Swingmory free?

Yes, it is free to download and use. Paid plans are optional: Pro is $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year, and Cloud, which adds backup of your clips, is $12.99 per month or $99.99 per year.

Where are my swing videos stored?

On your iPhone by default. Clips, thumbnails and notes stay on the device, there is no account, and we have no way to see them. Cloud backup is a separate plan you have to choose, and it stores your clips on infrastructure we run so they survive a lost phone.

Do I need an account to use Swingmory?

No. The on device option needs no account at all. An account is only required for cloud backup, because the clips have to be stored against something.

Does Swingmory record audio?

No. The app never captures microphone audio and requests no microphone permission. Camera access is only requested after you tap Record, and never at launch.

Can I import swings I already filmed?

Yes, through Apple's system photo picker or the Share button in Photos. Either way Swingmory receives only the clips you choose, and your originals are left alone. The one exception is a choice you make: once shared clips are safely in your cloud backup, the app can offer to remove the originals from Photos, and iOS asks you to confirm before anything goes.

How is Swingmory different from the Rakou app?

Rakou is practice: ten minutes with your phone reading your rotation, tempo and position. Swingmory is the record of it. They are separate free apps from the same team, and neither one requires the other.

How do I cancel a Swingmory subscription?

In your Apple ID account settings, at any time. Apple handles the billing and any refund requests under its own policies, so we cannot cancel or refund on your behalf.
